Vineyard 25 church meets together on Sunday at a secondary school in Crowthorne.
The Vineyard Centre, is where many midweek activities take place. It is also the administrative hub for the day to day running of the church, and outreach projects including Zoe Zambia.
Zoe House, Chipata, Zambia
Zoe Zambia works in Chief M’nukwa’s kingdom 20 miles from Chipata, the capital of the Eastern Province of Zambia, close to the Malawi border. It’s an area of about 300 square miles with few roads, no electricity or running water. The people who live there are mostly subsistence farmers dependent on the rains to grow the crops on which they survive.
Initially, visiting Zoe reps would stay at Mama Rula’s, a small hotel just outside the town, and after very hot and busy days out in the bush it was our haven. Lush green gardens and a pool were hard to beat. However, ever mindful of costs, we began to realise that we needed to find a permanent base. Stephen Ngwira’s house in Chipata sits on a large lot and in one corner were the foundations of a small 2-bedroomed house, which, in June 2015, with Michael Brady’s help, and the Ngwira faimily’s blessing, was soon completed. The following December Michael oversaw the installation of a generator which now makes Zoe House very comfortable, and latterly a bore hole has been sunk. Restrictions on the town’s electricity supply, and thus the time the water pumping station works, mean these are a God-send
making a real difference to real Zoe rep’s lives!
Following a trip to the amazing South Luangwa Game Park (which is only a couple of hours away) several sponsors and donors have come to stay for a few days to visit Zoe Zambia and see what we get up to: Mama Rula’s is still a favourite spot for dinner!
